Introduction

The greater San Diego area is extremely rich in railroad activity and its history. At best there is a very informal means of sharing information between the groups. A better way of sharing information between groups as well as getting information about their activities out to not only the rail enthusiasts, but also the general public, could be a benefit to all concerned.

A consortium of information could be a good way to promote this. The central goal of SanDiegoRail will be to assemble as much information about railroad activity in the San Diego, California area and make that information available to anyone. The dissemination of the information will be made available to the general public in various ways that are suitable for railfans and the general public alike.

What Will We Do?

SanDiegoRail will contact all rail-related organizations in the San Diego area to inform them of the goals of SanDiegoRail. Each group will be solicited to share information about their organization as well as their activities. SanDiegoRail will include this information in the various information outlets.

Subscribers to the SanDiegoRail Digest will allow individuals to receive the newsletter as well as be on the email distribution bulletin list. The newsletter will be mailed to all the organizations and subscribers and will have feature articles, editorials, advertisement, classifieds and a Q&A section.

SanDiegoRail will attempt to receive newsletters from all Rail Organizations to create a library of newsletters. This library can travel to special events and be made available to Rail Organizations on a loan basis.

A calendar of events will be maintained with collected information and posted on the web and included in the newsletter. This will help to encourage the sharing of information as well as promote the activities that various organizations have that are railroad related.
